It's Showtime! What To Do and What Not To Do

The sign is up and you are ready to show your home off! In any market, a hot one or not, you need to have your house prepared to show as soon as you are live! What should you do and not do for a showing?

Upgrades and Repairs:

If your home has undergone some major changes since you purchased your home, you may want to list these out. Many people will never even look at these but if they are interested they will. Upgrading your brass knobs on your kitchen is not a big deal to the buyer, but a new furnace, hot water heater or brand new roof is. Any transferable warranty should also be noted.

The list doesn't have to be long as I've stated, most people will not even notice it unless they do and if they do, they are not going to read a long list. A simple record is fine. If a professional was called in to do work, show receipts.

Neighborhood Info:

Not everyone looking at your home is familiar with the area. Show off your neighborhood with any information you have such as if there is …

The Dollhouse Exhibit at The Dewitt Museum

The entire museum is underground except this spot where the sun comes through the windows. We have been waiting years for this exhibit to come back. The Dollhouses have been missing from here for almost five years. When I heard they were back we had to go. Here until 2017, yes, that long, you should go see them.

Amazing small architectural pieces built for kids. The girls are much older now and still enjoyed the exhibit but when they are younger they seem so much larger. The dollhouses are large but you know how when you are small everything seems so much bigger. We had a nice time and met up with a friend of mine and her kids.

They types of furniture that has survived the years is gorgeous.

Listening to they many different types of instruments that have been made over the years. They all look beautiful with orignal wood, never painted.

The detail to these dollhouses are crazy!

Had to demolish the house to get the dollhouse out? Amazing!

One of the coolest rooms in the museum.

The black and white version of this photo is on my Instagram. This guy is a vinyl. (Not a vin-el as my teen told me how it was pronounced. )

You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.

Why did I never have this as a child? Mom?

We love China.
Fun in the elevator.

  1. I've heard of this in passing BUT OMG!!!! THIS IS AMAZING!! My cousin growing up had the most detailed dollhouse I have EVER seen. She was 16 years older than I was and I was NEVER allowed to touch it or play with it. Which at the time I was like what's the point? But it's crazy to see the detail that people have put into doll houses!! I think it's awesome you guys got to go to this. Looks like everyone enjoyed themselves :)
